4 Diamond Beach Activities You Can’t Miss

Australia is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. This statement could not be more true when talking about Diamond Beach. Found on the mid-north coast of New South Wales and set in the scenic Manning Valley-Great Lakes region, Diamond Beach is the perfect location for a beach getaway.

In fact, you will have a choice of beaches:
Diamond Beach itself offers miles of uninterrupted walking on pure white sand. Nearby Black Head Beach is patrolled on weekends and holidays through an extended Summer season and is perfect for smaller children and those less confident in the surf. Like Forster beach, a 30-minute drive away, Black Head Beach has a safe and fun rock pool as well. Surfers will appreciate the point breaks at neighbouring Red Head Beach.

When a break from the beach is needed, Serenity Diamond Beach is a perfect gateway to the region’s other attractions and activities.  If you are thinking about visiting, there are a few must-see places that you need to add to your sightseeing list.

1. Cruise or Fish the Great Lakes

Full- and half- day cruises and even short 2-hour cruises are available from Forster into the Great Lakes region. Get out on the water and see these beautiful lakes with views you just cannot get from any other way. Enjoy the scenery on offer and keep your eyes peeled for Dolphins.

Just offshore, cruises will take you whale-watching from June to November each year.

If fishing is your thing, deep-sea charters chase game fish and estuary charters target flathead, whiting and bream in calm waters. You can even hire your own pontoon boat and take a picnic lunch onto sand bars and islands.

2. Get out on the green

Pack your golf clubs and get out on the green at Tallwoods Golf Course. A 10-minute drive from Serenity Diamond Beach, this golf course was created with the environment in mind. Designed by one of the world’s leading environmental golf course designers, Dr Michael Hurdzan, this course has been described as “a collection of holes that are challenging and stimulating, all difficult but not impossible, always exciting and always individual.”

In fact, there are another four golf courses within a 40 minute drive of Serenity Diamond Beach: create your own golf touring circuit!

3. Explore the Surrounds

Take a day out to explore Wingham, Gloucester and the Barrington Tops. These locations offer amazing scenery, rainforest walks, horse riding, vineyards, river cruises and fantastic cafes utilising local produce.

Ellenborough Falls is another great location that is worth taking the time to explore. Located approximately 100 kilometers from Serenity Diamond Beach, Ellenborough Falls are the second highest Falls in the Southern Hemisphere. Tourist Drive 8 to Elands starts nearby: we will be happy to point you in the right direction.

4. Sample Premium Wines

Wineries are a great option for those looking to sample some of the local delicacies. Great Lakes Paddocks is a fantastic location to try local wines, grass-fed Angus beef and other local produce. This winery offers stunning views of the hinterland and even puts on music events throughout the year. Treat yourself to a grazing board and work your way through a great range of red, white and dessert wines! If you are staying for longer than a few days make sure you check out other wineries in the Diamond Beach area and see what they have to offer.
